Ideas For Our Blog

A Poll: Are you interested in surveying our school community and seeing how many people recycle, or surveying on another topic? We can announce the poll through email and at lunch periods, asking people to visit our site and respond to our poll. I think it could be interesting to see how many people recycle.
Earth Day: Are you interested in doing an activity or presentation for Earth Day? There is an Earth Day countdown on the sidebar of our blog. Clicking the Earth Day 2008 link takes you to a site about things happening on Earth Day. We might gather ideas from this site.
A Podcast: An audio podcast is a recording that can be downloaded to your iPod or computer, and then you can listen to it, kind of like a news cast. What about making a podcast recording our thoughts on the environment, and making the podcast available for download for our friends and family? We can link to the podcast from our blog, which makes it easy for others to access.
Challenge: Now that we are familiar with how the blog works, think about how much of it you have used- have you visited the links and learned more about environmental issues- have you posted comments that talk about environmental concerns, thoughts- have you shared sites or infom0ration from particular environmental sites- and have you read through the comments posted by others and responded to them?
Visitors: Check out our visitors! Faiz, from Evergreen Primary School has said hello Please offer a warm welcome! Faiz may be able to share what environmental issues are being discussed at Evergreen school.

I think we should do a weekly poll, like "Do you recycle?" or "How many times a week do you use a gas-using vehicle?" Referring to the vehicle releasing gasses into the atmosphere.

I think Snowbird has a good idea. We could also do a poll on how many paper towels people use to drytheir hands. If anybody thinks of anything else put it down. Thanks!

I see you are interested in the idea of putting a poll up on our blog. Let's do it. Tuesday morning we will decide on a poll question and multiple choice answers. Then, we spread the word, get people visiting the site, and see what information we gather- should be interesting.- 'Til Tuesday-

I think the poll idea is good, but I have a completly different idea. We could grow a bunch of trees and fruits and veggies. By growing trees, we could release more oxygen into the air cleaning up the air of sulphur dioxide, the horrible smell emitted by cars. By growing fruits and vegetables organically and sell them to people to raise money for the club.

How about celebrating Earth Day at school?? Students can be able to learn about the effects of global warming.

Great idea Faiz! We probably CAN celebrate Earth Day at school! But there is one problem. The headmaster of the school must approve of that idea. Lets see what happens. Bye!

I have a GREAT idea. we could write to Senator Hillary Clinton or Senator Barack Obama and ask them their views on global warming and ask them what they would do about it. If they say something we like, we could apply that to our ideas. Global warming is a BIG issue, so I don't think they could turn down our ideas.

i think that if they see that us kids really care too, they will see that the issue really needs to be addressed

I think we should have a newsletter that we hand out at school. How about it?

I think Faiz and Dino thinking Green both hav good ideas but we could also write to someone else closer and less busy. I talked to Mrs ElAmri about having the left over trees they give to fourth graders every year(if they have any). She said that she would have to ask Mrs Quertermous. If they do we can find places to plant them. Keep brainstorming Save and Sign! Thanks! Isabel/Olive
